LEAP Program Orientation
The SAFES LEAP Orientation is a one-day program designed to welcome and support new postgraduate coursework students as they begin their studies within programs offered by the School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences (SAFES) at the University of Melbourne.
Held at the beautiful and accessible Burnley campus, the program provides an engaging introduction to university life, with a focus on academic readiness, professional development and community building.
Sessions focus on cohort building, understanding the learning expectations of a Master student, specific course overviews, and familiarisation with internship and research projects opportunities.
An orientation program for commencing students from the following courses:
- Master of Agricultural Sciences
- Master of Ecosystem Management and Conservation
- Master of Environment
- Master of Food Packaging and Innovation
- Master of Food Science
- Master of Urban Horticulture
What to expect
Across a single day, students will take part in some structured sessions:
- Cohort-Building Activities - Connect with fellow students across different postgraduate programs through interactive, small-group activities designed to foster a sense of community from day one.
- Course-Specific Breakouts - Meet your course coordinators and gain key insights into your program, including subject planning, expectations and available support services.
- Research and Internship opportunities – Talk with staff, current and past students about options for research projects and internship to cap your degree and set you up for the next stage of your career.
