Find a supervisor
The following staff are available to supervise honours and masters research in the Crop Agronomy research group.
Professor James Hunt
James Hunt is an agronomist and crop physiologist specialising in water-limited productivity of dry-land cropping and mixed farming systems. His research focuses on using combinations of management and genetics to increase productivity and profitability of grain-based farming systems.
Project topics:
- Integrating long coleoptile wheat into Australian farming systems through an integrated understanding of genetics, management and environment.
Dr Arjun Pandey
Arjun’s research focuses on managing soil and fertilizer nitrogen for the sustainable intensification of Australian dryland crops, while also improving soil organic carbon storage. His expertise lies in using 15N-labelled nitrogen to study the dynamics of nitrogen in the soil-plant system, including leaching and gaseous emissions.
Project topics:
- Effect of nitrogen fertiliser input decisions on grain yield and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Monitoring of N2O and N2 loss from soil.
- Efficacy of enhanced efficiency fertilisers on improving nitrogen use efficiency and reactive nitrogen loss to the environment.
- Effect of nitrogen input decisions on soil organic carbon.
Dr Juan Wang
Juan Wang specializes in soil science and crop agronomy, with a particular focus on: phosphorus acquisition by different crop species, soil organic carbon dynamics, rhizosphere priming effect, organic wastes in ameliorating soil physical and chemical constraints.
Project topics:
- Understanding the phenological and physiological differences between winter and spring wheat cultivars.
