Professor Giovanni Turchini
Giovanni’s key research interests include nutrition (animal and human), aquaculture, food and feed technologies and fatty acid metabolism in cultured aquatic species. He's also deeply committed to investigating sustainability and ethical practices in fisheries and aquaculture.

Dr Sara Pinho
Sara's research interests lie in optimising resources use in aquaculture. She specialises in quantitative modelling and sustainability assessment studies to investigate and develop sustainable and circular aquaculture practices.
Project topics:
- Advance and model circular aquaculture practices (e.g., multi-trophic systems and circular aquafeed)
- Optimise nutrient, water, and energy use efficiency in aquatic food systems
- Quantify the environmental sustainability of aquaculture practices
- Promote economic, environmental, and social sustainability in aquaculture practices tailored to different site-specific conditions
